How it works - Distance Learning Accreditation
Applying for accreditation involves several steps, outlined below:
1. Register as a CME/CPD Provider
ACOE requires a formal registration to identify you as a provider of CME and/or CPD activity. The registration form includes basic information about your organisation and contact details. To register, please click here.
2. Login and Password
Once your registration is approved, you will receive an email containing your login details. These credentials will allow you to access the accreditation application form and track the status of your submission application Form
3. Application Form
The information you provide in the application form will serve as the basis for ACOE’s quality assessment of your CME and/or CPD activity. Please ensure all sections are completed accurately and thoroughly.
4. Required Documents & Access
After submitting the application form, you will need to provide access to the educational material to be evaluated. This may include:
- Uploading relevant documents and supporting materials
- Providing access links or login details to online content (if applicable)
- Submitting any evaluation forms used for participants (if different from the ACOE standard form)
- Including the self-assessment or test associated with the activity
5. Decision on Accreditation
Your application will be assessed by ACOE Councillors within approximately three to four weeks following submission. You will be informed of the outcome by e-mail.
6. CME and/or CPD Credits
ACOE determines the number of CME and/or CPD credits awarded to each activity. Credits are awarded proportionally to the duration of the educational content, with one credit granted per full hour and half a credit per half hour.
7. Certificate of Participation
The delivery of the certificate of participation is linked to the completion of the evaluation form and/or the self-evaluation test.
The certificate of participation should indicate that the event has been reviewed and evaluated by the Accreditation Council of Oncology in Europe (ACOE).
CME and/or CPD providers must offer participants a convenient method for obtaining their certificate. For distance learning activities, a web-based system is strongly recommended.
8. Evaluation Report
Providers are requested to provide an evaluation report at the end of the validity period of the accreditation.
The European Cancer Organisation is pleased to support the accreditation system for CME and CPD in oncology across Europe. Our work for ACOE is completed on a non-profit making basis and the fees charged are designed to cover the operational costs involved.
For Distance Learning accreditation, the ACOE Council has agreed the following fee structure, made of two elements:
- Accreditation fee (based on the number of hours of content to be accredited)
- Administration fee of € 300 for each application
